For Men
What for men?
Almost anything. Most common procedures are removals of skin alterations. Some are removed when a mole becomes irritating in some way (gets broken, itches, starts to hurt etc.), grows or changes colour. In those cases the alteration is removed entirely as a sample and the procedure will leave a scar even though it is made with a heat knife i.e RF knife (RF= radio frequency) or laser.
Benign and asymptomatic moles that are detrimental to looks can usually be removed without scarring. The technically most competent system is RF ablation, in which the alteration is erased layer by layer. The area will be covered with skin coloured tape for a week and after a few weeks of slightly reddened skin it's usually not noticeable at all that something has been removed. Showering and normally also going to the sauna is allowed already the day after the operation. With this technique several alterations can be removed from the same area under local anaesthesia (neck, chest, upper back etc.)
Of the bigger procedures, eyelid surgery is quite common for men. Heavy, tired looking upper eyelids and swollen lower eyelids are not something a man has to see when looking in the mirror. As long as you have 1-2 weeks for recovery, these problems are easy to get rid of under local anaesthesia. Especially in eyelid surgery the RF knife is excellent from the standpoint of recovery. And the results can later be complemented with heat tightening and many other non-surgical methods.
Despite effective drugs against hair loss and modern trends in hairstyle, hair transplantation is still popular. The primary method is micro hair transplantation (using single grafts) but other techniques can also be used.
A face lift might be wanted when there's a need to restore a jaw line, loosened cheeks or slackened throat. To restore the shape of the jaw a small liposuction and heat tightening is required. Even these alone provide excellent results without any further operations.
Quite often men also receive so called non-surgical treatments, most common ones being dermal fillers that lighten facial lines and grooves, and botulinum (Botox) treatments that soften expression wrinkles. For example, the lightening of the vertical lines between eyebrows is a matter of a couple of injections and the results will last anywhere from 6 months up to several years. The skin can also be treated with several different laser treatments, intense pulse light treatment and radio frequency based treatments, as well as chemical and mechanical peels. The hot new thing is heat tightening of the skin with radio frequency, but even a man must not forget a throughout mechanical cleansing of the skin at least a couple of times a year, for example by diamond dermabrasion.
The body is often firmed up by going to the gym or for a jog, but sometimes it takes more time or effort than a person can spare. With age men tend to acquire some extra on the area of stomach and sides (love handles) and the breast area also grows loose. Usually these problems can be treated non-surgically with reasonable results. Fat tissue can be can be lessened by ultra sound pulses and skin can be tightened by heat treatment (RF). These are always not enough, so sometimes surgical procedures that for example shape the chest and stomach area are wanted.
This is just a portion of the treatments we have for men. The modern approach is to look at an issue from many different angles and to strive to find the best possible solution.
